Yellow Paint Counseling was inspired by a popular metaphor often attributed to Vincent van Gogh, although not based on historical fact. This story reflects the deep yearning for happiness and healing, even when the methods may seem irrational or self-destructive. At Yellow Paint Counseling, we recognize that when people are struggling, they may turn to anything—no matter how harmful—in search of relief. We are here to walk with you through your pain, to uncover and truly hear your own “yellow paint” story.
The story goes like this:
"Vincent van Gogh is said to have eaten yellow paint because he believed it would bring happiness inside him. People thought it was a mad and dangerous act, given the paint's toxicity, and obviously, there was no real connection between paint and happiness. But if you were so desperate for relief that even the wildest ideas seemed worth trying—like painting the walls of your internal organs yellow—then you might just do it. This is no different from falling in love or taking risks, despite knowing the potential consequences. People do it every day because there's always a chance it might make things better."
Everyone has their own “yellow paint”—the ways they cope, for better or worse, with pain and suffering. We're here to help you explore healthier paths toward healing and wholeness.
